How do I remove Urine smell/odour from carpet? Good question. It is not an easy process!
Urine is acidic. A 'strong AMMONIA' forms as Urine passes through a bacterial & chemical change. This will usually cause permanent staining due to changing the dye structure of the carpet fibre. When dry (24-48 hours), it leaves a salt alkaline residue. These salt crystals emanate an ammonia ODOUR in HUMID months, due to moisture trapped.
Depending on YOUR 'level of Tolerance' we can Neutralise & Remove 80% of KNOWN urine sources & the associated ODOUR + attempt to lighten the stain. You may not be worried about the look of your old urine stains & you do NOT want us to perform any additional treatments, OR you would like us to minimise the odour associated?
We pre inspect urine affected areas & discuss your two treatment options:
Treatment 1 - Used in 97%of our urine treatments - 'SURFACE TREATMENT' using a Sub Surface tool (Water claw or Flash Xtractor). WE do NOT lift the carpet:
1. Apply a urine treatment (a diluted mix of Deodoriser to neutralise vaporous odours AND Urine Odour NEUTRALISER shampoo) to counteract (by attacking & digesting & neutralise) organic malodours + break down Alkaline salts to EACH stain.
2. Let this dwell for 5-10 minutes to ensure that the carpet backing & underlay
is reached (this is where the heaviest concentration of urine will be)
3. We then heavily wet these areas & allow 5 minutes dwell time.
3. Extract the chemical & excess water & urine using our Water Claw or Flash Extractor
4. Apply shampoo to the room then extract the area whilst steam cleaning, using our Wand.
5. Apply a slow release chemical to minimise the stain/s.
This method is effective on Odours of KNOWN
urine sources. We will TRY to, but we CANNOT guarantee to remove urine STAINS.
Treatment 2: BELOW Surface Treatment (rare, 3 out of 100 urine treatments)
i
nvolves lifting your carpet to treat carpet backing & to remove & replace damaged underlay. This is the ONLY way to remove 98% of the odour & to treat ALL sources of urine contamination. In EXTREME cases when we are ASKED to perform additional costs MAY include
1. Disposal of old underlay
2. NEW underlay &/or NEW smoothedge (if rotten) installed
3. Carpet/Underlay Relay charge
4. Vacuum OR Re steam clean + reapply antimicrobial decontaminant IF required
Urine Treatment charges
Minimum charge $121 for 1st 15 minutes on site Inspecting , assessing & discussing treatment.
Each additional 15 mins = $55
Dryer/Airmover = $66 PER dryer per day
When we are already performing a DELUXE clean &
YOU then request sub surface urine treatment, we will assess the treatment required & the number of urine to be treated. We will then quote you the
additional cost BEFORE we begin any treatment.
Please be specific with us as to how far YOU want us to go, because everyones damage (extent of & number of urine stains to be treated, type of carpet etc) is different, so we quote per job.
This is why we CANNOT give an ACCURATE quote over the phone, as we do not know the extent of the urine penetration! or which treatment will need to be performed.
